Heavy metal holiday gift guide

Heavy metal holiday gift guideLike it or not, the holiday season is upon us!

And although there are several, one of the things that’s sure to cause frustration during the holidays are the people on your list that are difficult to shop for. Sure, Grandma might like the reindeer-themed sweater bedazzled with little flashing lights (including a strategically placed red bulb on one of the reindeer’s noses) but the metal-heads in the family would probably rather die than adorn such an atrocity. Or when your black-lipstick wearing niece opens a gift comprised of an array of nail polish and eye shadows in more shades of pink that anyone knew existed, this is not going to be the family member who takes care of you when you’re old.

So if you need a little help knowing what holiday gifts to give to the metal-heads in your life, please read on…

Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale

If you’re in the Chicago area or willing to head out in that direction for the holidays, tickets for Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale musical would make a great gift this season. A heartwarming holiday story that just so happens to revolve around the heavy metal band “Däisy Cütter,” Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale tells the tale of a 80’s-themed heavy metal bar band trying to make it to the top despite the fact that the 80’s are gone. So to try to give themselves the edge they need, they sell their souls to the devil in exchange for success, but then each time they try to seal the pact, their head-banging anthems turn into festive holiday carols and they eventually realize their dreams of rock and roll stardom just can’t compete with the Christmas spirit. The Twisted Sister front-man, Dee Snider, plays the narrator and the exorcist. Playing now, Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale is now playing at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place in Chicago, Illinois, and will run through January 4, 2015.
