DEE GRAND MARSHALL AND HEADLINER FOR ANNUAL “TOYS IN THE SUN RUN” MOTORCYCLE EVENT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR JOE DIMAGGIO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
(Broward County, Florida) On Sunday, December 4, 2016, Dee Snider, front man of legendary metal band Twisted Sister, will take part as Grand Marshall for this year’s “29th Annual South Florida President’s Council (SFPC) Toys in the Sun Run” presented by the Mardi Gras Casino.
Starting at 9:45am and leaving from the Mardi Gras Casino, Dee Snider will lead the World’s largest motorcycle parade, with over 30,000 motorcyclists escorted by 250 police officers from the tri-county area. Finishing off at Markham Park in Sunrise, Snider will then headline the outdoor concert at 3pm to include a vibrant, stripped-down version of his best-known song, “We’re Not Gonna Take It” from his new solo album, “WE ARE THE ONES,” released recently in October 2016.
‘WE ARE THE ONES’ crackles with modern energy, from the call-to-arms manifesto of “Rule the World,” to the anthemic bonding of “So What” (complete with, yes, a string section) to the intensely synth driven “Close to You,” to the thematically soaring “Superhero” (a song tailor-made for running over the end credits of the next Marvel or DC movie blockbuster if ever there was one). Another significant highlight of the album is a newly re-recorded acoustic version of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” which has also been tapped the official anthem for The Recording Academy’s advocacy efforts, including the “Fair Play Fair Pay” Act. Recently performed in Washington D.C. at the annual GRAMMYs On The Hill event, a video of the song premiered on Entertainment Weekly’s website HERE and can now be viewed at Grammy.com/FairPlayFairPay.
Other events at Markham Park include non-stop live music on three stages, a massive motorcycle show, over 100 vendors, an international food court, cold beer, and soft drinks. In addition, there will be an open car and truck show which has been dubbed South Florida’s “Most Unique Winter Car Show” and sponsored by Cruisers of South Florida, all proceeds from this event also benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, Hollywood, Florida.
Dee Snider will also visit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital on Saturday, December 3rd, during the VIP Guests visit to meet with children on the cancer wing and sing Christmas Songs. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is one of the area’s leading pediatric care hospitals, offering comprehensive health services and programs in an atmosphere that is child-friendly. An all-new facility opened in July 2011 in Broward County thanks to the support of events such as the SFPC Toys in the Sun Run, which since adopting the hospital, has raised over $16 million to benefit the facility.
