Dee to Join ‘Rocktopia’ as Special Guest Vocalist

Looks like Rocktopia wants to get twisted.

Dee Snider, frontman of metal band Twisted Sister, will join the Broadway show’s lineup as a special guest vocalist April 9-15. The performance will mark Snider’s return to Broadway: In 2010, he filled the role of Dennis in the Tony Award-nominated Rock of Ages.

Snider is the third guest star to be announced for the show. Train singer Pat Monahan made his Broadway debut when Rocktopia opened March 27 and remains with the production through April 8. Cheap Trick vocalist Robin Zander will do a turn with the company April 23-29.

Twisted Sister ripped into the mainstream in 1984 with the rebel anthem “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” It retired in 2016 after a 40-year career that included multi-platinum album sales. In addition to his Twisted Sister history, Snider is a longtime TV/radio personality and actor who has hosted his syndicated House of Hair radio show for 20 years and has appeared in such TV series as Celebrity Apprentice and Growing Up Twisted.

Rocktopia, which is set for a limited run at the Broadway Theatre, is a concert production that combines 20th-century rock hits with classical masterpieces, from Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Puccini to Journey, Queen and Led Zeppelin. The music is performed by a rock quintet, a thirty-person choir and a twenty-piece orchestra, and fronted by a variety of singers. The ensemble includes violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, guitarist Tony Bruno, pianist Henry Aronson and vocalists Tony Vincent, Kimberly Nichole and Alyson Cambridge.
